Skogstad & Wærnes is an Oslo based design studio established by Norwegian designers Petter Skogstad and Fredrik Wærnes.
Both born in 1985, Petter and Fredrik know each other since studying product design, at Oslo Metropolitan University and ECAL. After graduating they worked for ten years designing products at Anderssen & Voll, Andreas Engesvik and Snøhetta, collaborating with leading brands around the world. In 2020 they decided to combine their skills and experience, and founded their own studio.
Their approach to design is honest and thoughtful, driven by the complexity and responsibility of creating new products. The studio work in a wide variety of fields, with passion for furniture, lighting and objects.
In 2023 they launched their first products; Merkur – a solid wooden chair for the historical building of Oslo Stock Exchange, produced by Danish furniture brand Audo Copenhagen. Frame – a series of oval plates for Norwegian porcelain manufacturer Figgjo. And Mello – four different colored wool blankets for Norwegian textile manufacturer Røros Tweed.
The same year of 2023, Skogstad & Wærnes was awarded the Scheibler Prize for Design – one of Scandinavia's most prestigious design awards. The jurying and award ceremony was done in collaboration with The National Museum of Norway.
During Bo Bedre Magazine Awards 2024, they received the honorable prize of Readers Choice Award for their collaboration with Fora Form and the design of BUD – a program chair designed for working in environments that encourage creativity and social interaction.
Since then they have designed and developed several products in collaboration with brands such as Røros Tweed, Wendelbo and Paper Collective.
